Selling TVs by Ignoring Family

2019 / Edelman

It’s 2019. No matter who you voted for in 2016, the holidays are now awkward at best, or a total bloodbath at worst.

But for Samsung, this is great opportunity. Because would you rather talk to your family, or would you rather TV Together Instead? And if you thought we were joking, maybe think again on Black Friday after you’ve observed how quickly complimenting the potatoes can spawn a shouting match about [any politician].

I performed a few roles on this one, including creative direction, art direction, and copywriting.

We created gifs encouraging people to put their differences aside, let the awkward moments go, and just watch some high-quality QLED TV.

At the time giphy was where you went for reactions and responses, so we put them there for people to use.

At Edelman I just did a one-off project, but I was ECD of Samsung US & Global at R/GA—a couple times.

Other Edelman Work
A much bigger project at the same agency in which I played more roles.

Tide Super Bowl
Kind of a similar style of broad humor on a bigger scale and a much bigger stage.
