4 Years of Partnership Recorded in Quotes

2012 - 2014

For 4 years between 2012 - 2014, Luke Behrends and I worked together as a creative team.
We saw each other almost every day and during that time, lots was said. We began quoting each other and posting it to Facebook. It ended up being a sort of verbal photo album of our partnership.

These are a few of my favorites:

“It’s sorta like punching yourself in the face repeatedly, while saying:
‘stop hitting yourself’"

- Keiji Ando,
on what it’s like working together

"Just so you know, I don't care what color you write in.
You should just write in invisible."

- Luke Behrends,
on the validity of my copy notes

"You dirty sons of bitches.
We'll see who's boss."

- Keiji Ando,
trying to print

"I'm always on the verge of blowing out my crotch."

- Luke Behrends,
on the tightness of his new fancy pants

"Look at who's blowin' out their crotch now!"

- Luke Behrends,
observing a hole in my pants

"Probably thousands."

- Keiji Ando,
on the highest he's ever counted consecutively

"I feel like all my posts recently have been me being mean to you.
Which makes me feel bad. And actually I'm really nice."

- Luke Behrends,
having a meltdown

"If you're running out of stuff to talk about,
we can just be quiet."

- Luke Behrends,
cranky because he hasn't had lunch yet

"I feel like somebody either ashed in this or poured coffee in it
...wanna try it?"

- Keiji Ando,
on the funkiness of his Vitamin Water

"Oh, you're thirsty aren't ya Obama Chia."

- Luke Behrends,
while watering our Obama Chia Pet

"There you go shithead."

- Luke Behrends,
while watering our Obama Chia Pet

"Do you wanna get steaks for lunch?"

- Keiji Ando,
upon realizing it was payday

"Don't wow me. I got wows for you too."

- Luke Behrends,
reacting to my reaction after finding out he was not aware of the film "Heathers".

"Psyche. That shit's ugly. I hate it."

- Keiji Ando,
after me thanking him for complimenting my backpack

"I think I've done it. I think I've written the worst script ever."

- Luke Behrends,
while writing into the night

"You know what? Time for some Enya."

-Keiji Ando,
getting down to business at 4:00 on a Friday

"Do you think Enya can communicate with whales?"

- Keiji Ando,
making valid points

"Look at these slackers. You're all gonna burn."

- Luke Behrends,
reprimanding me and some other latecomers for missing the fire drill.

"If you ever need like a frumpy whiney guy, I'm right here."

- Keiji Ando,
selling me on his VO abilities

"You can tell from the sirens in the background."

- Luke Behrends,
on the difference between LA and NY casting tapes

"Where'd you get a pen?!"

- Luke Behrends,
upon discovering that I took notes in a meeting

"You ever think that because you have pens, I'm prepared?"

- Keiji Ando,
shirking responsibility

"Get your damn double-hyphens out of here."

- Luke Behrends,
on my use of double-hyphens on our shared google docs

"Does your ass have a dimple? Are you a dimpled-ass character?"

- Keiji Ando,
overstepping his bounds

"I hate you.
But I love our partnership so I'm stuck."

- Luke Behrends,
resigning himself to mediocrity

"To me."

- Keiji Ando,
cheersing to a mutual achievement

"Someday when we're not partners anymore you'll look back and say:
man, that Luke was a funny guy."

- Luke Behrends,
on how I take him for granted

"It's been a wild ride these last few years and besides being the best partner I've ever had, you're one of my best friends too. I'm going to miss our silly conversations and laughing late into the night. But really, most of all, I'm going to miss you. I wish you the best of luck. Now come here and give me a big hug."

- Keiji Ando, never

Another broad comedy big-media TVC (Olympics), but with a lot less budget, way more production hurdles, and a lot more business to get in.

AVON
A cute, funny campaign that helped Terri & Sandy win Independent Agency of the Year.

NASCAR for ESPN
Also large-budget video, but in a totally different style.
